Christopher Boots
For Melbourne-based designer Christopher Boots, light is more than illumination—it is a material, a mood, and a means of transforming architecture. His fascination with the natural world began in childhood, when a chance encounter with a handbook on rocks and minerals sparked a lifelong obsession with geology, crystals, and the stories held within stone.
Founded in 2011, the Christopher Boots studio brings together nature, architecture, mythology, geometry, and traditional craftsmanship. Quartz crystal has become a signature material, celebrated for its innate variations in colour, structure, and luminosity. Each piece is conceived as a sculptural object, where brass, bronze, stone, and glass are brought together through meticulous handcraft.
Working from his Melbourne studio with a collective of skilled artisans, Boots draws on both ancient techniques and contemporary design to create lighting that feels at once elemental and otherworldly. The result is a body of work that transcends function—objects designed to transform interiors, evoke emotion, and endure as future collectibles.
